Uttharashaada/ Utthradam Nakshatra is the 21th Nakshatra and occupies 26°40' Dhanush — 10° Makara as per vedic astrology.

Uttarashada and according to the scriptures, it means invincible, undefeated and victorious. Literal translation is the later invincible. According to the Vedic astrology, Uttarashada is connected with its previous nakshatra named Poorvashada nakshatra. According to the Vedic astrology, its symbol is defined by a tusk of an elephant as an elephant is a warrior animal and is known to be the strongest and biggest animal used in wars.

Elephants take maximum help of their tusk to destroy whatever comes in front of them; their heavy tusk crushes anything in their way. According to the scriptures and Vedic astrology, the tusk of an elephant signifies royalty and leadership. The Uttarashada nakshatra has Sun as the ruling lord.

Sage Agasthya Muni gave a powerful mantra called Aditya Hrudayam to Sri Rama when Rama was perplexed, while fighting with Ravana. After chanting this Hymn three times Sri Rama defeated Ravana.
