The very first deity who comes to mind as we discuss the pooram star is Kodhai/ Andaal. Thiruvadi Pooram meaning Pooram nakshathitram in Aadi month is when Andal was born in Sri Villiputhur, a town near Madurai.

Periya Alwar found Andaal as a small baby in a tulasi bush in his garden/ Periazhwar nandavanm [This garden can be seen to this day in Sri Villiputhir Andal temple] . In 2018, we visited this temple along with nava-tirupathi temples of tamilnadu.

Purva phalguni nakshatra is the 11th nakshatra out of the total 27 nakshatras. In Leo /Simha sun sign this nakshatra extends from 13-degree 20 minute to 26-degree 40 minute.

The ruling deity is Aryaman and he is the 12th son of Aditi. Aryaman and Bhaga of uttaram are said to represent the strong marriage contract that comes with marriage in Hindu religion and they even call the agni used in marriage as Aryaman fire. The Hindu mythology behind Aryaman is found here. Apart from all this , Thrissur Pooram is a very famous temple festival celebrated on this lunar mansion pooram rising in the Medham month observed in Kerala, with huge gathering and has been a practice for the past 200+ years.

Let us have a look at Pooram captured as part of Leo in the bright sky.
